Fish explorer: Remade gravel pits a treat

This is an interesting article on how you can look for fishing opportunities for smallmouth and other species anywhere. In my area, some of the old quarrys become productive fishing holes, some are not accessible for fishing.

There’s Watson, a great little smallmouth fishery. McMurry, the subject of my last column, is a nice largemouth fishery. Prospect Ponds produced my largest carp, a respectable 36 inches. And the list goes on with Riverbend Ponds, Arapaho Bend,

I like to keep a fishing rod in the car so when I happen to be near the Schuylkill, Delaware or Susky Rivers, I can pick up a few smallies!
