Wallenpaupack Sports Shop, Hawley (570-226-4797): Mark says smallmouth bass action is on and anglers should have a field day for Saturday’s bass opener. They’re hitting real good in the high bushes and around the docks using spider jigs and Kai-tech lures.Blaine says the Delaware River – Belvidere gauge reading was at 5.4 feet and heading up to just shy of 7 feet by midnight Wednesday. Rather tough smallie fishing lately with bass in a post-spawn mode, plus the weather is all over the place. A few bass are still on flats, and some have moved to current and fast shallow water. In stained water, try spinnerbaits and small dark-colored cranks. Clearer water, grubs, Case Salty Minnnows and X-Raps will work. The North Branch of the Susquehanna was fishing decent. Bass are eating tubes and crank baits when water has a stain to it, and current breaks are the deal up there. Source
