Well, where to start?
First off, I never win anything, so imagine my shock and excitement waking to an email saying i won a trip to fish with an FLW pro, on lake Champlain, compliments of Dr.Chris Smith at Everything Smallmouth! Which, by the way, is a GREAT website!!
Bit of a long flight coming all the way from California, but the amount and size of Smallies we caught made it all worth it! The first day was blowin 25mph with 35mph gusts, white caps occasionally rolling over the bow of the boat! 21ft Ranger Challenger, Evinrude 250 H.O…flat out gettin it even across the rough water…Did that stop us? Absolutely not! Fish On after Fish On!
We knocked em start to finish! The second day was no different! We put a hurtin on em! We went up near the Canadian border and fished some bridge pilings and it was non stop action.The hospitality was second to none!
Upstate New York on Lake Champlain with a great guide and great all around individual, Howard Hammonds! It was a treat to fish with someone of his caliber. He was very knowledgeable and informative about any questions I had. Even gave me some insider info!! We all know how guarded us fishermen are of our successful techniques! Any of us die-hard fishermen would’ve found this trip exceptionally gratifying and definitely was a game changer for my semi advanced skill level.
I arrived on a Sunday, we fished Monday and Tuesday. I had a flight out on Wednesday evening so he took me out for an extra day before driving me back to the airport in Burlington Vermont. We had no wind, warm weather, and blue bird skies. Once again, we laid them to waste!
I would recommend booking a trip with H2O Adventures as soon as you can! I’m sure that he will be booking up fast before spring is upon us. It will be the trip of a lifetime and give you memories of fishing glory to last you forever!
